Caltechの工学部教授で原子核施設や爆発事故をご専門とされるジョセフ・シェパードさんに、原発の事故についての講演をお願いしました。「福島第１の事故と原子力発電所の安全性」という題で、来週の水曜日の午後４時に開催します。場所などの詳しい予定は追ってご連絡します。

さて、昨年の１０月から、東京大学とCaltechをビデオ会議でつないで行っていた「先端物理学国際講義 I」の録画が、iTunes Uで公開されました。このURLアドレスから見ることが出来ます。

ちょうど今日は、Caltechの学生による授業の評価の集計結果が発表されました。ありがたいことに、よい評価をいただきました。コメント欄には、

This course really pushes the boundaries of physics pedagogy. The material covered is both broad and specific.

Oguri knows the material extremely well and presents lectures that read like meticulously edited encyclopaedia articles, with scarcely a word out of place.

It is worth noting that Oguri always made sure the course was accessible to the students in Tokyo, and from the lectures presented there, I can say for sure - he is the most accomplished tele-lecturer I have ever seen!

東京大学やCaltechの皆さんのご協力で、いろいろなノウハウも蓄積されたので、また別の機会に活用できればと思います。
